Titanic collection hits the globe (www) from Amsterdam, Netherlands
Hello  With the start in 2015 of this little online museum, my Titanic collection has since become accessible to the public, the global community. Speaking of which, if you ever visited Amsterdam since 2002, then you may have seen and used my most special creation as a graphic designer. In 2001 I designed the upholstery pattern for the passenger seats in bus, tram and metro of my hometown's public transport operator GVB. To this day, 2022, the synthetic fabric with woven near-abstract repetitive appliance of the company symbol is still present (renewed but unchanged in 2014-2015). Click image for large seat photo. MODERN CATASTROPHE (UNFOLDING):  1.6 billion Air Conditioner (AC) units are now in use by the world population of circa 7.8 billion people.  Following climate change and its progressing extremities, a 3.5 times increase of ACs is expected by the year 2050, a staggering total of 5.6 billion ACs.  Ironically, the cooling ACs contribute to global warming hugely:  their high energy consumption combined with their primary refrigerant components named hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), of which the most commonly used are over 1,000 times more potent than carbon dioxide (CO2).  Very similar (energy consumption) growth expectations apply to Refrigeration units for indoor spaces and for transport & logistics, and similarly expected is a massive increase of (energy consumption by) indoor electric fans.  [ mixed sources 2019, © sstitanic.org ]
